Hi Everyone,

Do you have a different spirit?

Read Numbers 13-14.

Verse 14:24 says "But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it."

God said that Caleb had a different spirit! Why? In Numbers we read that Moses had sent twelve men to spy out the promised land that God had given them. He'd given it to them already!

They were meant to check out the land to see what it was like so that they could plan how they were going to take it, not if they could take it. When they returned to the Israelite camp ten of them came back with a negative report, even though everything about the land was good, all they saw was the giants and so decided that it was impossible, but Caleb said 'Let's go at once to take the land... we can certainly conquer it."

They saw the same land yet the other ten's eyes were on the giants but Caleb's eyes were on God and he believed that if God had given it to them, then it was theirs to take.

Note that the negative report of the ten caused all the people in the camp to become angry and grumble, and so they never made it to the promised land that God had given them.

Only Caleb and Joshua entered the land, everyone over twenty years old died along the way!

Wow! See what a negative report can do, it can kill a whole community!

Today as men and women of God, let's choose to have a "different spirit", after all, we are temples of God's Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 3:16)

Let's choose to believe what God says instead of the negative voices of the world. Let's choose to speak like overcomers which God says we are. (1 John 4:4)

Let's walk and talk with faith and courage, and take the promised land that God has given us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Not only will we honor God but we will make a difference to all those around us, and give them courage and hope.

Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16.

" You are the light of the world... "

Lights shine brightest in the dark. We may not be able to change the present circumstances but we can choose to have an overcomer's attitude as we pray and believe that "Nothing is impossible with God." (Luke 1:37).
