Hi Everyone,

I was in a supermarket a while back, standing behind a lady at the checkout, and this woman, who would have been in her late 40s, was being very rude to the girl at the checkout. She was telling her off quite loudly. ‘Poor girl’, I thought! When she left, I said to the girl at the register, who had tears in her eyes by now, “Don’t worry; she must have had a bad day! You’re doing a great job!”

She smiled bravely as she scanned my items, and I left. As I began walking to my car, I saw this woman, who’d been so rude, putting her groceries in the car. To my amazement and embarrassment, I noticed a ‘Jesus’ sticker on her car! ‘Oh no,’ I thought. I wanted to go and take it off.

2 Corinthians 5:11-21 says that we are God’s ambassadors. Now that was not a good witness for our Lord Jesus Christ! You see it didn’t matter what her sticker said because her actions were not those of a loving Christian.

You’ve probably heard it said that… “people don’t care what you know until they know that you care!” You can see now why so many people say all Christians are hypocrites. Let that not be us, but let’s demonstrate what a real child of the Living God is like.

Have you noticed that children will mimic their parents when they are playing? I have. I’ve heard it coming from my children many times! Sometimes it sounded funny, and sometimes a little embarrassing and made me think. Why did they sound like me? Because they were with me all day. Whoever we spend time with, we will eventually sound and act like.

I had to laugh when my 4-year-old granddaughter said to her cousin, “Not now, sweety, I’m driving!” She was sitting in the driver's seat of my car pretending to be driving, when her cousin asked her a question, so she responded probably the way her mum would respond. So funny but true.

So as parents and grandparents, what are we teaching our children? What are they seeing and hearing? And as God’s children, are we imitating our Father God?

Ghandi once said, “If I could find Christians who were truly like Christ, I would become one too.”

In Acts 4:13, it says that the men of the Sanhedrin (Jewish High Court) could tell that Peter and John had been with Jesus.

Can people tell that you’ve been with Jesus? Do you stand out among the crowd even without saying a word? Or do you appear to be no different to the unsaved?

“It was said by Chesterfield, the heartless dandy, upon his return from visiting Fenelon, the Archbishop of Cambrai: ‘If I had stayed another day in his presence, I am afraid I would have had to become a Christian, his spirit was so pure, so attractive and beautiful.” (From Streams in the Desert + Springs in the Valley)

So who do you sound like?
Who do you act like?
Who do you spend time with?
Do you spend enough time in the Presence of Jesus to sound and act like Him?

Let’s be more aware of this as we go about our day. Let others see Jesus in and through us so that they will want to know Jesus also.

“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.” (Philippians 1:27)
