Hi Everyone,

As I looked out my bedroom window one night I noticed people going for a walk, and I thought “why are they going for a walk in the dark?” But then I realised that it wasn’t really dark, in fact, the streetlights actually lit the path quite well and gave off a lot of lighting so that the walkers would not stumble in the dark.

I started to think about how we are meant to be pathway lights, how we are meant to light up the path so that those we meet will not stumble in the darkness any longer but come to walk in the light! Notice how when you are in a room where it’s dark and we are always drawn to the light, for example, if the electricity goes out, we are quickly looking for a torch or lamp or something to light the way so we don’t go stumbling around. (Matthew 4:12-16)

In Matthew 5:14+16 Jesus says…
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

We are called to be lights in this dark world. We are called Children of the Light! Jesus is the Light as He says in John 8:12 “I AM the Light of the world.” So if we belong to Him then we are children of the light and the more time we spend in His presence the brighter we shine. (Ephesians 5:8, Luke 16:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:5)

Unfortunately, the enemy has made sure that our lights remain dim by causing division, sickness, busyness, even self-absorption and pure unbelief in who we are! Let’s be honest if all God’s people were shining brightly the whole world would be converted by now!

Now is our time to begin to shine brightly cause all signs are pointing close to the end of the age and Jesus could return anytime to rapture His people!

So, we must be honest and ask ourselves “Have we really been shining brightly and lighting up the path in this dark world?”

Is our light attracting those living in darkness? Let’s think about this seriously…Do you just want to blend in with the rest of the unconverted world? Or do you want to stand out and shine? As I’ve said before… “Stars shine brightest when the sky is darkest!”

“Arise and shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.” (Isaiah 60:1-2)

“I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I AM sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God….” (Acts 26:17-18)
