Hi Everyone,

"Are you coming in or out, don't let the flies in!"

I yelled out to my granddaughter as she stood in the doorway talking to her sister, it reminded me of a dream I had about a year ago. I had dreamed that there was this fence, with a huge gate, which seemed electric and it was closing very slowly but what brought me to tears was that some people were standing inside, some outside and some were standing in the middle, in the way of the gate! "Oh no!" I said to myself, "they are going to get crushed by the heavy iron gates!"

Have a read of 1 Kings 11:1-13,

Solomon had married many women from other nations even though the Lord had told the Israelites that they must not intermarry because their hearts would be turned to other gods.

In (VS. 4.) it says "As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been."

(vs 6) "...He did not follow the Lord completely..."

Solomon was unfaithful to the One True God! He had just put Him in the same category as all the other gods.

On the other hand, it says of Caleb in Numbers 14:24 how he followed God wholeheartedly, and so he entered the promised land. In these ever-changing times, more and more we will be put in a position where we need to choose whether we are going to stand firm and choose God's ways, according to His Word, or go with the way of the world, the easy way.

So today we need to ask ourselves...

  • Am I fully devoted and wholeheartedly following Jesus or am I just adding Him to all the other gods in my life?
  • Is He our first love above all else? (Revelations 2:4).
  • When Jesus returns will He find us faithful and ready for Him (Matthew 24:44) ? Don't be standing in the gateway or you'll be crushed!
  • Decide now, it's your choice!

Now fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshipped... But, if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day, whom you will serve...

"But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
Joshua 24:14-15
