Hi Everyone,

Have a read of 1 Samuel 5:1-12.

When I read this it made me laugh at how this idol god could not stand in the presence of the Ark of God! Dagon was the national god of Philistia, where Ashdod was situated. The top half was of a man and the lower half of a fish. This was their god whom they worshipped.

When the Philistines captured the Ark of God, which contained the ten commandments, manna and the budding rod of Aaron and represented the Presence of the One, true, living, eternal God, they placed it beside the statue of Dagon in the temple. It goes on to say

“When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the Ark of the Lord! They took Dagon and put him back in his place, but the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the Ark of the Lord! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained.” (1 Samuel 5:3-4)

It made me think about how every idol and every sickness, disease, oppression etc. every work of the enemy cannot stand before the Presence of God! Read Philippians 2:5-11 Vs 10-11 says….

“That at the NAME of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

This has not happened yet but when Jesus returns, and I know He will and believe that it could be soon as the reigning King we will see this happen. Everyone will bow down, everyone!

Revelations 1:7 says “Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see Him – even those who pierced Him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for Him. Yes! Amen!”

Romans 16:20 says “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.”

Romans 14:11 says “…As surely as I live; says the Lord, every knee will bend to Me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’”

Everyone means everyone! Believers and unbelievers every demonic spirit included.

The Ark of God brought judgement to the idol worshippers and convicted them but it brought joy to Israel. It’s the same today, for those who are perishing, the unbelievers the Gospel is the smell of death, but to those who are saved it is the fragrance of life. (2 Corinthians 2:15-16)

Today I ask you to search your heart and see if there is an idol that you may be worshipping and have placed before the One True Living King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Eternal God!

I’m not talking priority and first place, in the place of your First love. (Revelations 3:3)

1 John 5:21 says “Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.”

The time is now to come and bow down to our Lord and make sure that He is your first love because the time is drawing nearer to His return and I certainly don’t want to be found to be unfaithful, lacking and left behind! Do you? If the idol god Dagon had to bow before the Presence of God, I think we should too!

“All the earth bows down to you;
They sing praise to You,
They sing praise to Your Name.” (Psalm 66:4)
