Hi Everyone,

Have you ever heard people say (other people, not you or me of course), “well, there is nothing we can do but pray”?

Isn’t it funny how it’s only when we have exhausted our resources and ourselves that we often turn to prayer? Shouldn’t it be the first thing we do when faced with a difficult situation? Instead we are often tempted to run to the phone and share our problem with another half a dozen people who feel sorry for us and don’t know what to do also. Sounds funny doesn’t it, but it’s true. Of course, it’s not wrong to get someone to join with you in prayer, that’s scriptural (Matthew 18:19-20).

Have a read of John 5:1-9?  This is the healing at the pool of Bethesda, when Jesus asked the man “do you want to get well?” His reply was, I can’t Sir, for I have no man to put me in the pool when the water is stirred”.

He’d been waiting there 38 years and he was still waiting for a man to help him get his healing, even when the man, the HEALER, the MIRACLE worker, was standing right there beside him.

This challenges me, maybe we don’t always see results because even though we say we are praying about the situation, maybe, just maybe, we are really looking to a man instead of THE MAN, THE ONE who has all the answers.

If he created heaven and earth and everything in it. If he placed the stars and planets in the sky and keeps them there. Do you think that he might just be the one to look to when we are faced with difficulties? He’s just waiting for us to call on him. After all HE IS GOD!

So, who are you looking to for your answer?

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in Princes”. Psalm 118:8-9
