Open Your Treasure Box
Hi Everyone,
"Your mother left this for you Janice’" said her father, and he handed her a beautiful little treasure box. She took it, held it close to her heart as tears rolled down her face. Janice’s mother had died only a few weeks ago and Janise was grieving deeply, at 14 years old, when a young girl needs her mum, she felt all alone. She took that treasure box and put it in a drawer where it lay for years and years.
Many years passed and Janice was now a grandmother, she’d forgotten about that little treasure box, it had been stored in her drawer, then moved to another set of draws when she married but had never been opened.
One day as she was looking for some important contract in the drawer, her hand hit this little box at the back of the draw. She pulled it out and held it in her hands as she remembered the day her father had given it to her, she began to think how special it had been to her mum and now she would pass it on to her daughter. After admiring it for a while, she thought to herself, "why have I never opened it?”
She tried to open it but it seemed stuck she finally got it open with a screwdriver, and to her amazement, she saw the most beautiful jewellery she had ever seen, she gasped and began to take it out piece by piece, it was so unique, so, so, precious! "This is just beautiful," she thought. "What a fool I’ve been to not open it before, I could have worn this for my wedding and my daughter could have worn this for her deb and this one for her wedding."
All those years she had this treasure in her drawer and never realised it because she’d never bothered to open it!
The WORD of God is a treasure box but so many people keep it neatly put away and never open it to take the treasure out. Then when they hit difficult times, they fall apart because they have not been strengthened by the WORD! Everything we need, every answer to our situations is in the WORD. It is our treasure box that God has given us, so that we may endure all trials and crises that life brings.
Jesus said ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ (Matthew 4:4)
That’s how He defeated the devil, with the WORD. The devil doesn’t care about what you think or say it’s the WORD of God that wins the battle. Remember Jesus has already won the victory for us, we just need to keep the enemy off our property with the WORD, but if you don’t know what the WORD says you can’t stand confidentially and securely.
“Heaven and earth will pass away but my WORDS will never pass away.” (Mark 13:31)
Romans 10:17 says “Faith comes by hearing, that is hearing the Word of God.”
We need to be hearing the WORD, reading it, singing it, declaring it! So that when difficult times come, we will be strong enough to stand firm and endure and come out the other side stronger!
Don’t be like Janice who had this beautiful treasure box full of jewels but never opened it, never enjoying its contents. God’s Word is so precious, it’s full of jewels! Why don’t you open it up today and every day and enjoy the beautiful jewels God has given you?
Jewels for comfort, encouragement, healing, security and of course the assurance of God’s love and salvation through Jesus Christ!
