Hi Everyone,

As I watched Joe watering our tomato plants, I remembered how my dad had taught me to water the tomato plants; down in the soil where the roots were, not the actual leaves and tomatoes. I did this every day, and we grew beautiful tomatoes! Some were huge!

It made me stop and think... Are my roots being watered? Because it's the roots that determine the quality of your fruit!

I wonder if we often focus too much on the fruit in our lives and try to improve it by willpower when we just need to allow the HOLY SPIRIT to water our roots. As the roots are nourished with living water, we will begin to see our lives produce godly fruit that will feed all those we come in contact with (Matthew 15:13). I've heard it said,

"If you take care of the root, the fruit will take care of itself."

This speaks of our hearts. If our hearts are right with God, then we will naturally produce healthy fruit (Ephesians 3:17). If not, no matter how hard we try, we will not be able to produce good fruit. Will power, minds power or manpower will not do, but only HOLY SPIRIT power can truly do the job otherwise backsliding will eventually result! (Matthew 7:15-20).

(Read John 15:1-2, 4-5, 16)

Also, beware of suckers, they are those useless things which steal nourishment from the plant. I wonder if we have any suckers which are draining life from us?

Hebrews 12:1 Tells us to strip off anything that weighs us down (Habits, relationships, addictions).

Our relationship with God needs to be our main priority, that's what will keep our roots nourished and healthy, watered with HOLY SPIRIT rain.

So every time you water your plants, remember that you need to be watered too and allow the SPIRIT OF GOD to saturate you as you spend time in HIS presence!

"Let your roots grow down into HIM, and let your lives be built on HIM..." (Colossians 2:7)

"Even in old age they will still produce fruit, they will remain vital and green." (Psalm 92:14)

This is how I want to be... how about you?
